PROFILE
CAITLIN (KAT) LEONARD
About Me
I'm a Korean-American cartoonist who makes illustrations and comics about monsters, queer + fantasy stories, and draws lots and lots of fanart. The themes I continue to come back to include intersecting identities, bravery, and unconditional love. My pronouns are she/her.
I graduated with a BFA in Painting & Drawing from the Ohio State University in May 2020 and recently received my MFA in Applied Cartooning from The Center for Cartoon Studies in May 2022.

"Kat Leonardo" is an alias that someone gave to me in elementary school, and it's stuck since.
TOOLS + PROGRAMS
My background is in traditional mediums, but I also work digitally.
For traditional work, nothing beats those Papermate and BIC mechanical pencils with .05 or .07 mm lead.
Sometimes I'll buy blue or red refills as a treat to use for undersketches.
Sakura Microns are my go-to for inking traditionally.
I've also recently been dabbling in Blackwing pencils. I like the 602 the best.
For digital art programs, I mainly use Procreate + an iPad Pro + Gen 2 Apple Pencil.
I also use Clip Studio Paint and Photoshop on PC.
Oftentimes, I'll scan in traditional pencils/watercolors to add digital color.
For frame-by-frame animations, I use Procreate or Photoshop.

My go-to Procreate brushes are Max Ulichney's brush packs, which you can purchase HERE.
